Nokia Unveils Latest Windows 8 Device: Lumia 620

Nokia officially unveiled its latest Windows Phone 8 smartphone today, the Lumia 620. Clearly aimed at the budget-range market, the phone is equipped with a 3.8 inch screen, a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor and Nokia’s ClearBlack display to improve the viewing experience outdoors in bright sunlight. The phone also comes with 512MB of RAM and a 5-megapixel camera and a VGA front-facing camera for video chat.
Nokia is also adding some new casing colors to the Lumia 620 — overlaying one translucent color layer over an opaque layer to produce new “bold blends” with a “depth effect” — such as lime green and orange. Seven colors are being offered in all, with exchangeable shells — in gloss and matte finishes.
According to TechCrunch, the device will cost just $249 before taxes, and it’s expected to ship in January. Nokia’s target markets for the phone include the Middle East, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region, although it has plans to launch the Lumia 620 in Canada and Europe later, too.
