New rumors out of Asia suggest that Apple may be looking at increasing its MacBook Air line to include a 14-inch model to fit the needs of its biggest market.
According to the hit-or-miss DigiTimes, supply chain sources are saying that Apple may be exploring the concept of launching a 14-inch version of the MacBook Air that currently only ships in 11 and 13-inch models.
The potential cause for this is the Asian markets prefer this size to 15-inch models, as 14-inch models account for 35 to 40% of the purchases in Asia.
Despite recent reports that Intel’s next-gen Ivy Bridge chips may see an 8- to 10-week delay, which pushes the release back to June, insider sources say that Apple may still be launching the much rumored MacBook Pro refresh as early as April.
Intel has staggered its shipments before and may give Apple a head start with about 900,000 units, according to DigiTimes’ sources in Apple’s upstream supply chain.
